Volkswagen has announced a new value-added model joining the Tiguan range.

Named the Tiguan 132TSI Pacific, the limited edition model is priced at $33,490 — no more than the standard 132TSI model on which it's based.

For that money, the Pacific edition comes with an electrochromatic mirror, dual-zone climate control, dual vanity mirrors with lighting, auto-on/off headlights, rain-sensing wipers, follow-me-home function, front fog lights and Park Assist 2.

Buyers can order the car with standard six-speed manual or opt for a six-speed automatic transmission. Other than the choice of the six-speed auto in lieu of the seven-speed DSG available with the standard Tiguan 132TSI, the Pacific variants are mechanically identical to the donor cars and are powered by the 2.0-litre direct injection turbo four (TSI), producing 132kW of power and 280Nm of torque. In combined-cycle testing the Tiguan 132TSI uses 8.7L/100km of fuel and emits 204g/km. With the DSG specified, those figures rise to 8.9L/100km and 209g/km, respectively.
